Choose useful keywords

Open Keywords and add terms tied to a real product, service, customer problem, or location. Avoid long lists of unrelated high-volume phrases.

Understand the metrics

Volume estimates demand, difficulty indicates likely competition, and intent describes the probable goal behind a search. Metrics are directional estimates and can vary by data source, market, and date.

Score against business fit

A lower-volume phrase can be more valuable when it closely matches an offer and the page can satisfy the intent. Prioritize the intersection of relevance, realistic competition, and business importance.

Map one primary intent per page

Assign related terms to the page that best answers their shared need. Do not create near-duplicate pages for every variation or force unrelated terms into one document.

Review over time

Refresh metrics periodically and remove terms that no longer match strategy. Use completed growth work and report evidence—not metric movement alone—to decide what to do next.
